Carla earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Design from the University of Maryland in 1987. She went on to have a successful career as an Art Director, but after a while, she could no longer deny her deep passion for healing through functional medicine and decided to change her career to help others navigate the road to optimal health.
Carla began working with clients in 2017 after becoming a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritional Practitioner (FDN-P). She then graduated from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy in 2018 becoming a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC).
Carla was raised in New Jersey, but currently lives outside New York City with her husband. She helped raise her two stepdaughters in NY and considers herself a native New Yorker.
When not working with her clients and enjoying time with family and friends, you can find Carla painting, enjoying nature, or on her yoga mat.
What I love most about working with my clients is creating a safe space for them to share their stories and to be heard. I take the time to listen to my client’s goals and work with them to create the outcomes they desire.
The process of health discovery and achievement can be confusing and overwhelming. Sometimes you feel as if you’re running around in circles getting nowhere. Even with a specific plan from your health practitioner, it is easy to get overwhelmed. It is challenging to change your typical routine to implement new healthy habits. I have been down this road myself. I realized this is where a health coach is an invaluable partner and guide.
My health journey started at six years old and continued until I found functional medicine in my
early thirties. I experienced chronic and debilitating digestive symptoms, that sometimes left me
unable to leave the house. These chronic symptoms started to take over my life. I was given the diagnoses of IBS, mild Crohn’s, as well as others like Fibromyalgia and Interstitial Cystitis. I also suffered from hormone imbalances, chronic headaches, fatigue, anxiety, and vertigo. I know what it’s like to have poor health, to feel isolated and afraid.
I also know what it feels like to heal, be well, and live my life again.
“Functional medicine coupled with lifestyle change is incredibly powerful in helping people regain their health. My own personal struggles helped shape my passion for assisting my clients in achieving optimal wellness. I want to help others live their best life again.”
