We are excited to share with you all that our practitioners, Dr. Heather Maddox, MD, and Lindsey Peterson, FNP, are officially recognized and certified as Functional Medicine practitioners through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM)!! Yahoooo!!!

What does it mean to be “board-certified”?

IFM board-certified practitioners have the expertise, clinical satisfaction, and professional advancement in the world of functional medicine. We are trained to think outside the conventional medicine box and look deeper for the root cause of our patient’s symptoms/disease process. As functional medicine providers, we utilize the functional medicine framework to explore all areas of a patient’s life and lifestyle, focusing on helping each patient reach their individual level of optimal health. We have extensive knowledge and access to functional diagnostic testing services that aid in our ability to dive deep and uncover our patient’s “why”. We work with our patients to reach their desired health goals and include them as part of the care team during the decision-making process.

Why is it important to work with a board-certified functional medicine provider?

As certified functional medicine providers, we are held to the highest standard of care for our patients.  Through our extensive studies, we have gained advanced skills and competencies in the treatment of patients with complex, chronic diseases. We believe health is the only real asset we all have and that each person should invest in their health with the most up-to-date and trained practitioners in the field of functional medicine.

“It was a 3+ year journey for the both of us, a goal we set for the end of 2020, and here we are starting the new year with our certification in hand. We couldn’t be more grateful, relieved, and overjoyed!! Thank you to everyone for your support during this long journey. We look forward to continuing our work with our certification in hand, working to uncover our patient’s “why” and helping them reach their health goals.”⠀
